Mon to Sun 11.30am-11pm

In July 2006 the Scotsman stated that Chop Chop provided “food that is not only staggeringly good, but almost unbelievably cheap”.

Owner and chef Jian Wong is a prize-winning dumpling maker and the restaurant is a good place to sample genuine basic Chinese food. .

Specialise in meat dumplings, either boiled or fried.  Own choice of dipping sauce, including soya sauce, vinegar, chili and garlic.

Located near Haymarket with a bright yellow frontage it is hard to miss. The décor is basic but the food varied and so delicious.

Signature Dish:
Aubergine in garlic sauce

If you haven't been here and you like Chinese, you need to try it! It is quite different to anywhere else in Edinburgh. The food is well cooked, the selection is excellent and the service is very pleasant. Having been there a number of times since they opened, we expected the standards to drop as they so often do. The food quality has remained constant and it shows - it seems to be getting even busier than ever. Perhaps the word is spreading how good the value is. They have also become quite famous for their dumplings and with good reason. Will be back soon.
